“Trompo Arasá” – Acrylic on Canvas, 30 x 20 cm
The trompo arasá is played much like a traditional spinning top: a string is tightly wound around it and, with a flick of the wrist, it is cast to the ground, where it spins gracefully.
Beyond being a simple game, the trompo arasá holds cultural significance. As noted in La Bitácora de Maneco, the spinning top and its unwinding string become a metaphor for narrating the history and memory of the Paraguayan nation. Through its circular motion, it reflects both playfulness and continuity, linking past and present in a dance of tradition and identity.
